Gas Installation Boksburg

Gas fitting is defined as any work on a connection to a gas installation. It includes work on pipes and other connections to a compressed gas source, whether it’s a gas cylinder or natural gas supply. Because of the danger posed by gas, gasfitters must be licensed professionals.

You may need to employ a licensed gas fitter to connect a number of home appliances, including:

  • Gas heaters
  • Gas air conditioners
  • Gas hot water systems
  • Gas stoves
  • Gas refrigerators

The only exception to the rule is a simple connection that involves attaching an outlet directly to a gas cylinder such as a connection found on a gas barbecue.

Licensing of Gas Fitters

Gas fitting is governed by individual states, but all state governing authorities adhere to nationally recognised licensing standards. Because gas fitting can include technical work done on large installations, more limited gas fitting licences can be issued to plumbers and other tradies who often install gas hot water systems and other residential gas installations.

Types of Gas Fitting Jobs

  • Installing, repairing, altering, or extending a gas installation;
  • Installing, repairing, altering, or extending a flue;
  • Connection, disconnection or reconnection of a gas installation to a gas supply source;
  • Connection, disconnection or reconnection of a gas appliance to its gas supply; and
  • Connection of a gas container, regulator or appliance unless the device is designed to be easily connected at a single point.
